Dark green sleeveless cotton dress
Dark green sleeveless cotton dress
Dark green sleeveless dress with a subtly woven white dot. The fabric is an old, indigenous cotton of India, grown organically. The weave structure is airy and slightly transparent.
Model of the dress
The dress has small pleats from the neck to just above the waist and is beautifully cut at the back. The dress drapes beautifully because of the pleats, has side pockets and a comfortable fit. Without a clear tailoring, yet a very elegant model. A small coconut button in the neck finishes it off.
Tangalia weaving technique
The small white dots, spread over the green fabric like tiny snowflakes, are woven/knotted into the fabric by hand. It is a hand weaving technique that is regional. Only in Surendranagar in the Indian state of Gujarat is there a weaving community that has mastered this technique. The dots are identical on the front and back.
