Zari: craft of metal weaving

The technique of weaving with metal wire is thousands of years old in India and is called Zari. Previously, zari was reserved for noble families. at that time silk threads were used that were wrapped with silver and then galvanized with gold. This pure zari is still used but is extremely pricey and so nowadays either copper (metallic zari) or polyester (plastic zari) is used as a base. This dress has metallic zari as a base.
